Have you ever had that feeling that you are in a “relationship” with a specific colour?! For me, it’s definitely red! Like the Winsor Red by Winsor & Newton, used in many of my paintings, e.g. “Flamenco Rhythms”, “Tomato Red”, “Valentine’s Day Bird”, “Study of a Male Northern Cardinal”, etc.
“Flamenco Rhythms”, watercolour on Arches 300 gsm, 80 x 110 cm, February 2015 (see: https://violetad.com/2015/10/10/flamenco-rhythms-january-2015/)
Tomato Red, watercolour on Arches 300 gsm, 25 x 25 cm, August 2015.
Valentine’s Day Bird, watercolour on Arches 300 gsm, 20 x 20 cm, February 2016 (SOLD to a collector in the UK)
“Study of a Male Northern Cardinal”, (an excerpt from the painting) watercolour on Arches 300 gsm, December 2015.
Winsor Red is also prominent in my recent figurative painting called “Red Immersion”, in which the entire non-nude area has been “immersed” in red. See the painting steps below.
bright bold, energetic and passionate!
I’m sure we do have relationships with colors LOL

Gorgeous reds! I especially love the cardinals. Red has never been a color I’ve used a lot — in anything — but now you’ve convinced me of its beauty. I want to get to know it better now. Thanks. 🙂
