Delicious monsters? Or a newly discovered dinosaur species?
Monstera Deliciosa is a tropical plant recognisable by its large, glossy green leaves with splits and holes. Recently, it has been featured extensively in art and design.
I painted Monstera for the first time in July 2015, and since then, it has popped up occasionally as one of the subjects that I enjoy painting in watercolour. The photos below show the process of painting the “Monstera Deliciosa” on Arches 300 gsm, professional watercolour paper, size: 51 x 94 cm (20.08 x 37.01 ”). Click on photos to enlarge.
In October 2017, the above painting was exhibited at the 8th collective exhibition of artists of Cuprija in the Horreum Margi Museum (Serbia). At the time, I called the painting “Philodendron” as I got the two plant types mixed up, but refused to change the name immediately (photo taken at home).
The following original paintings of Monstera are available through my online shops.

If you prefer adopting the real Monstera plant over hanging an artwork on your wall, please be aware that all parts of the plant are toxic to people, dogs and cats.
Beautiful monsters, Violeta. When I clicked on the photos to see a larger format, it brought me to your comment page.
